India orchestrated a remarkable comeback in the five-match series against West Indies, securing victory by seven wickets in the third T20 International encounter. The match, which can be likened to a “do or die” situation, saw India asserting its dominance with an unwavering determination to win. Opting to bat after winning the toss, West Indies managed to accumulate a total of 159 runs.

In response, Surya kumar Yadav single-handedly led India’s batting charge, displaying exceptional resilience. His innings of 83 runs off 44 balls, characterized by a mix of aggression and finesse, laid the foundation for India’s pursuit. Unfortunately, Yadav’s valiant effort was cut short as he was caught at the boundary while attempting an aerial shot, missing out on what could have been his fourth T20 International century.

The young batsman Tilak Verma, despite his recent streak of consecutive half-centuries, fell short of achieving another milestone when he was dismissed for 49 runs. It was Captain Hardik Pandya who sealed the victory with a six while standing strong at the crease, ensuring that India chased down the target successfully.

The fourth match of the series is scheduled to take place on August 12th in Florida, USA. The third T20 International witnessed a strategic shift in Team India’s approach, particularly in their powerplay tactics. Captain Pandya made a bold move by introducing spin in the third over, a decision that eventually paid off despite India securing their first wicket in the eighth over.

India’s spinners dominated the early overs, keeping the West Indies openers in check and preventing them from making a blazing start. However, the West Indies managed to put up a respectable score of 150+ runs on the back of contributions from opener Brandon King and captain Powell.

In reply, the partnership between Surya kumar Yadav and Tilak Verma made light work of the challenging pitch conditions at Providence Stadium, propelling India to chase down the 160-run target comfortably by the 18th over, although India had lost their openers for just 34 runs.

Despite a relatively underwhelming debut for Yashasvi Jaiswal and a lackluster performance from Shubman Gill, India’s middle-order shouldered the responsibility of scoring runs, ensuring India’s victory.

West Indies Squad: Brandon King, Kyle Mayers, Johnson Charles (wicketkeeper), Nicholas Pooran, Shimron Hetmyer, Rovman Powell (captain), Roston Chase, Romario Shepherd, Akil Hossain, Alzarri Joseph, and Obed McCoy.

India Squad: Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Surya kumar Yadav, Tilak Verma, Hardik Pandya (captain), Sanju Samson (wicketkeeper), Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Arshdeep Singh, and Mukesh Kumar.
